At CottageCare, we believe that everyone should be able to access our services and information, regardless of ability. Measures We Are Taking
- Standards and testing – Pages are built following semantic HTML5, proper heading hierarchy and ARIA attributes. Forms include associated labels and descriptive text. We test key user flows (such as purchasing a gift certificate) with screen‑reader software and keyboard‑only navigation.
- Ongoing improvements – Our team is auditing the site to identify and resolve issues such as colour‑contrast errors, missing alt text on decorative images, and dynamic content that may not announce updates via ARIA live regions. When issues are found, we prioritise fixes based on impact and complexity.
- Third‑party content – Some features on our site (e.g. payment gateways and CAPTCHA) are served via third‑party providers. We work with these vendors to ensure their components are as accessible as possible, but if you encounter difficulty using them, please let us know and we will provide alternatives.
Known Limitations
While we endeavour to ensure the whole site is accessible, you may encounter a few areas that are still being improved:
- Dynamic pricing and cart totals – Updates to price or total may not always be announced automatically by screen readers. We are adding polite live‑regions to improve this.
- CAPTCHA – Our fraud‑prevention CAPTCHA currently relies on a visual challenge. We are evaluating options for audio alternatives or invisible CAPTCHA solutions.
- Suggested amounts table – We are converting this table into a fully semantic table with proper caption, column headings, and scope attributes.

For the best experience, we recommend using an up‑to‑date web browser (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari) and, if needed, assistive technologies such as NVDA, VoiceOver, or JAWS. We test our site primarily with the latest versions of these tools on Windows and macOS.
