In a perfect world, we have enough time to prepare and get our homes ready for any guests that may stop by for a visit. Typically you might hire a cleaning service (that’s us!) to primp and prepare your home. Let’s be honest – that might not always be the case. Plans can change at the drop of a hat bringing you unexpected visitors that you may not be prepared for. Here are a few tips to make your home appear cleaner than it actually is if you are short on time…

stackbooks

Clear the clutter!

Stack books or display magazines nicely, put the laundry in the laundry basket, utilize drawers, cabinets and most importantly CLOSETS to hide items that might not quite have a “home” of their own yet.

madebedpillows

Primp it!

Make the beds, fold any throw blankets/towels nicely, pull shower curtains closed and fluff any pillows.

tabletopplant

Dust the stuff!

TV’s, table tops and plants are GREAT and obvious places for dust to collect.

cleantub

Scrub/Rinse it!

Rinse and/or scrub any sink, shower or toilet your guest might utilize

dishwasher

Unload/Load it!

Collect and take out any trash, load/unload the dishwasher to cut back on any clutter on counter tops.

cleaningfloor

Floor it!

Vacuum, sweep or mop any floors for that extra, “Look! It’s clean, I promise!” touch!

soycandle

Freshen up!

Have a favorite candle, essential oil or room spray? Light it, burn it or spray it! Many people associate “clean” with a fresh scent.

While not a CottageCare standard clean, we hope you find these tips useful should you ever find yourself in a predicament and need your home feeling a little cleaner, or need help keeping it clean between your professional cleans!
